I was living and working as a musician in Kelowna in the early 80s and was commissioned by the Okanagan Tourist Association at that time to write a song for their promotional campaign of a Million Dollar Reward to prove the existence of Ogopogo. As the format of the recording was a 45rpm record, I also ended up writing a song for the B side called “The OKanagan is OK” . This record was released for sale in The Okanagan and used in broadcast radio markets in cities such as Calgary and Edmonton & Vancouver as a 30 sec. jingle. It was played primarily on Alberta and BC radio stations at that time. I have been a songwriter for many years and still am. I have an active catalog of my songs placed with Atrium Music in Los Angeles. I live in Nanaimo BC where I own and operate my own studio: http://cozyshack.ca I am also an active musician on the Island and have a popular band here called The Shineolas http://theshineolas.com -Bruce Gerrish The Okanagan Sound featuring Stu Guttormson Bruce Gerrish: vocals, guitars Stu Guttormson: vocals, guitars Steve Bridget: keyboards Rod MacDonald: bass Larry Crawford: saxophone, clarinet West Vernon Elementary: vocals Words and Music by Bruce Gerrish, © 1981 SOCAN Produced in co-operation with the Okanagan Similkameen Tourist Association Engineered by Robin Henry Recorded at Nova Recording Studio, Vernon, British Columbia
