Album / Title
By: Harry Thomas & Basil Hunter
Origin: Vancouver, British Columbia
From Vancouver, Canada, dating from sometime in the mid-fifties, this really obscure privately pressed celebratory 50s booze-culture Christmas 78 features the boozehound/alky’s version of the Night Before Christmas as told by Harry Thomas in a mock preaching, Johnny Standley (It’s In The Book) type tone.
Reindeer have names like Seagrams Haig & Haig, Black & White, Pilsner etc. Santa’s a bit unsteady on his feet throughout the whole tale while the inebriated audience cackles and snorts.
Flip side, The Satellite Song , features a tribute to Sputnik, sung to the tune of It’s The Talk Of The Town.
