About This Title

Likely Lineup (February 1973):
Released in February 1973, this was Pepper Tree’s sixth single, and the first to be fully credited as produced and arranged by the band themselves in collaboration with Wayne Patton. Both tracks are non-album recordings: “Midnight Lady” was composed by Tim Garagan, and “Teach Me How To Fly” by Bob Quinn, reflecting the band's continued creative output during their final phase under Capitol.

Although the exact session dates are unknown, this single likely represents one of the last recordings to feature both Garagan and Quinn, who left the band later that spring. The presence of Garagan’s lead composition strongly suggests his active participation in the studio. Quinn’s role as writer and arranger also supports his involvement, although it's possible Ralph Parker had begun to phase in on keyboards during this period.

The single was also released in France on Capitol Records – 2C 006-81.399, one of only two known Pepper Tree records to receive international distribution.

Tim Garagan: drums, vocals
Bob Quinn: keyboards, backing vocals
Chris Brockway: bass, backing vocals
Paul Butler: guitar
Brian “Too Loud” MacLeod: drums (possible involvement depending on recording date)
Ralph Parker: keyboards (possible if Quinn had exited before final sessions)

Written by Tim Garagan (“Midnight Lady”); Bob Quinn (“Teach Me How To Fly”)
Produced and arranged by Pepper Tree & Wayne Patton
Engineered by Bill Seddon
