Insight

Liner notes:
SHIRLEY ANN was born in Drumheller, Alberta, on November 29, 1935, the eldest of a set of twins. She has two other sisters and three brothers, all of whom are talented singers. Shirley received her education in East Coulee, Alberta, where she spent most of her early childhood. Much of her success is due to her parents’ guidance, in particular her father Vernon Potts, whose encouragement and training proved invaluable to Shirley in her early years.

Not only an exceptionally gifted singer, Shirley’s musical career started at an early age, at which time, along with her two sisters, she sang at various school functions, shows, church services and at variety concerts. In 1946, the family eventually moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, and here, along with her sisters and a brother, she sang at many local concerts. This ultimately led to the formation of a young group, the “COUNTRY CASPERS” which, along with SHIRLEY ANN, was featured on CKRC Radio in Lethbridge for 6 years.

THE GIRL WITH THE GOLDEN VOICE IS NOT an idle compliment —— it is a FACT !

Through popular demand the show moved to a weekly spot on local TV Station CJLH, where it lasted for 4 successful years. During an interim period the Country CASPERS, along with Shirley Ann as featured vocalist, were aired on the Trans Canada Network for 30 minutes daily. While appearing with this group, Shirley Ann appeared in much of Southern Alberta, Eastern B.C. and Northern Montana on personal appearances.

Marriages and varied interests broke up the group and Shirley Ann went on her own doing club work and some Radio work. She has now turned to the Recording field —— her first attempt in this area.

SHIRLEY ANN is married and has two lovely children. Her husband Don is her Manager, Guitarist and loyal booster. Don is also a song writer and co-wrote one side of BOB KING’S current release “RAMBLING SHOES”, which Shirley Ann is featuring in her first L.P. along with hits “TURN ME AROUND” & “BE STILL NOW MY HEART”.
